Spotify Global 200
@9024fm Spotify research and findings
What is it?
Spotify Top Songs Daily – Global (Spotify Global 200) is the daily chart of the top 200 streamed songs globally
How is it calculated?
Spotify Global 200 uses filtered streams to determine chart position. Filtered streams are always lower than the unfiltered ("counter") streams that are listed for a track. Spotify counts a user's first 10 daily streams of a song for the chart.
Note: these 10 streams per user per day are the limit for Spotify Global 200 and other Spotify charts – but that is only a Spotify restriction. Streams beyond those 10 will still count toward overall stream counts as well as other, non-Spotify charts (such as Billboard)!
How to debut?
Stream on Spotify!
We need to increase filtered streams – recruit more ATINY (or other friends/family) to listen to the title track, and check fanbase guidelines for recommendations on how to decrease filtering!
@9024fm conducted an extensive research project into Spotify filtering and streaming practices. From this research, they found:
K-pop artists are filtered at a much higher rate than western artists.
At some time between the end of 2023 and early 2024, filtering rates for K-pop increased dramatically.
We haven't had the streaming numbers to break into the Spotify Global Top 200.
Mass streaming practices are potentially increasing filtering rates.
There may be a baseline K-pop tax filtering rate.
From their research, they created these new playlist guidelines
Implement any or all of the following:
Count collaborations and Jongho's songs as ATEEZ songs and not as fillers
Reduce the amount of K-pop filler songs – there appears to be a baseline kpop tax which triggers increased filtering.
Increase the amount of filler (non-ATEEZ) songs.
Keep playlists under 2 hours long.
Listen on shuffle if desired – gen pop listens on shuffle.
If the title track is on a curated playlist, stream that playlist.
Use a variety of methods to create playlists (guide coming from @9024fm!)
DO NOT
Loop playlists / mute Spotify / use VPN
Choose your own adventure!
Data shows that following a rigid streaming plan may increase the likelihood of filtering from Spotify charts. Our best strategy is to mimic streaming like the general population.
How do we achieve that?
Let there be chaos!
Using multiple Spotify accounts
If you want to use multiple Spotify accounts to help increase our filtered streams, check out these guidelines:
DO
Stream a variety of playlists
Create playlists for each account.
Listen to different Stationhead stations or recorded shows.
DO NOT
Sit all accounts on one station before getting the 10 Daily Streams registered.
Listen to the same playlist with all accounts
TRY
Getting your 10 Daily Streams from each account at separate times of the day.
Using different accounts on different networks (home wifi, friend's wifi, data, etc) as available.
