Music Shows Guide

Music shows boost domestic recognition and provide opportunities to perform at year end shows. More wins = more popularity = more opportunities

Music Show Calculation Methods

The Show, Show Champion, MCountdown, Music Core, & Inkigayo

The Relative Method

The Market Share Method

USED BY

HOW IT WORKS

The contestants who rank #1 in each category get a full score

Other contestants' points will be calculated proportionately

EXAMPLE

Artist A gets a 20M digital score

Artist B get a 10M digital score

Because of the relative method:

  • Artist A will get 1K points (The Show's highest digital points)

  • Artist B will get 500 points

USED BY

Music Bank

HOW IT WORKS

Our streams and digital sales of our title track will be compared to all songs' streams and digital sales in the tracking week (not only to those who are having a comeback in the week)

EXAMPLE

Artist A gets a 12.5M digital score

Many songs are streamed and purchased on Bugs, Melon, Genie, Flo, and Vibe (1.5B total streams & purchases) during the tracking week

Therefore, Artist A's points on MuBank = their total stream + song purchase during the tracking week divided by the total number of streams and purchases of all songs during the tracking week x 120,000 (MuBank maximum digital points)

12.5M / 1.5B * 120,000 = 1K points

Digital points are spread among many artists' songs, while physical album sales usually only are spread among those who currently have a comeback. Because of this digital points on Music Bank tend to have a lower score than other music shows, while the physical points on Music Bank usually have higher points than on other music shows.

OUR MUSIC SHOW POINTS ARE DETERMINED BY HOW OUR COMPETITORS ARE DOING!

Having low points in some categories does NOT mean that we're doing poorly or worse than before – it just means our competitor is doing better than us this time.

If a competitor is doing a lot better than us (a big gap), our points will be lower. But if a competitor is only doing slightly better than us (a small gap), our points won't be as low. We just need to focus on doing as well as we can!

STRATEGY

Push our strongest criteria (PHYSICALS & VOTING) as high as we can and create a big gap as a buffer.

Push our weakest criteria (DIGITALS) to have as small gap as we can with competitors above us.

REMINDER!

Physicals need a lot of FUNDS to win!

Voting needs a lot of COLLECTING PREPARATION to win!

Digitals needs a lot of PARTICIPATION to win.

Let's ace all 3 categories!
